A popular topic these days is what it would be like to live in a different time in history. The argument goes that people today are better off than their ancestors and so it is only natural that we think it is better to be. I personally disagree with the sentiment and would argue that our attitude and behavior today is not as different from our forebears as you might think.
When you look at how we live and act from a historical perspective, we are no different. We simply act differently, and we tend to react to certain events differently. The same way a person might become a vegetarian when they see a plant on the dinner plate, our ancestors went vegetarian to avoid certain diseases, or a person might move to a different country when they see a different culture, our behavior is not inherently different from those of our ancestors.
This is why it is so hard to put a label on the behavior of our ancestors. There are just so many possibilities. It is a little like the concept of “being human”.

I think people are seeing the trailers and thinking, This is a movie that is going to suck and it’s going to be like, “I really dislike the trailer. I can’t really understand what the movie is trying to say. I don’t know why it’s bad. I don’t really like it. It just doesn’t seem like it’s going to be interesting at all.” Well, the trailers are trying to say something. I think it’s not about the trailers.
